About Programme
International Trade and Finance program is a specialized, interdisciplinary program that goes beyond traditional academic disciplines, aiming to train individuals equipped to meet the needs of businesses operating on a global scale. With a curriculum that focuses on both traditional international markets and applications in the digital world, the program aims to equip students with the ability to use emerging technologies in their areas of expertise, as well as intercultural perspectives, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills to adapt to the shift towards a sustainable world.

History
Established in 2023 within Istanbul Commerce University to respond to the increasing importance of trade and finance in a globalising world, the Department of International Trade and Finance aims to train individuals equipped to compete in international markets.

The Department of International Trade and Finance offers a curriculum that provides opportunities for specialisation in many different fields, primarily international economics, but also business, finance, law, and politics.

Thanks to Istanbul's position at the heart of the trade and finance world, the department has established strong links with the sector, offering students internship and job opportunities.

With its young and dynamic academic staff, our rapidly developing department continues to train the successful businesspeople and academics of the future through education and research activities that meet international standards.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the programme are eligible to receive a Bachelor's degree in International Trade and Finance.
Admission Requirements
Istanbul Commerce University's Department of International Trade and Finance accepts students based on an examination conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM), in accordance with regulations established by the Higher Education Council (YÖK). After students indicate their programme preferences, they are placed in the relevant programmes by ÖSYM based on their scores in this examination.
Higher Grade Transition
Students who graduate from this programme may apply to pursue postgraduate studies.
Graduation Requirements
As stated in the Istanbul Commerce University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education, Teaching and Examination Regulations (Appendix 1.1) published in the Official Gazette on 22 June 2011 under No. 27972;

Article 11- Students who successfully complete all compulsory courses accepted in the curriculum of their registered programme, as well as the elective courses, practical training and internships decided upon, in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation, shall be awarded an undergraduate or associate degree diploma, specifying the faculty, college and department of the vocational college and, if necessary, the name of the programme. The decision to award a diploma shall be made by the relevant unit's board of directors upon the recommendation of a commission established by the relevant unit.

Article 35 (1) - The credits required for graduation, including compulsory courses and internships determined by the Council of Higher Education, shall be at least 120 ECTS credits for associate degree programmes and at least 240 ECTS credits for bachelor's degree programmes.

Article 35 (2) - Students who successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses, practical training and internships, and the required credit load with a minimum GPA of 2.00 are entitled to receive a faculty bachelor's degree, college bachelor's degree or vocational college associate degree, depending on the programme they are enrolled in. Final-year students who have passed all the courses required for graduation but have not achieved a GPA of 2.00 may take an average upgrade exam for the courses of their choice, provided that their last grade is valid and they pay the exam fee.



To summarise the requirements for graduating from the Department of International Trade and Finance:

Completion of a minimum of 240 ECTS credits from compulsory, elective and university elective courses included in the 8-semester course plan,
A minimum GPA of 2.00,
Completion of all compulsory and elective courses required to complete the curriculum and successful completion of these courses.

We strive to contribute to the personal development of our graduates by maintaining contact with them, assisting them in the employment process, and making improvements to our processes based on their feedback.

Career Counselling
Graduates who wish to receive career counselling support can submit their requests to our Career Centre. Career counselling services are provided by our Career Centre staff on a one-to-one basis, either in person or via online video calls using platforms such as Skype or Zoom, every weekday.

Graduate Tracking System
Through our Career Centre, we assist our graduates in finding employment by publishing part-time and full-time job advertisements on our career portal, which can be accessed at kariyer.ticaret.edu.tr. To apply for job postings, you must click on the ‘Sign Up’ button in the top right corner of our career portal and create your CV by entering the required information completely. After creating your CV, you must click on the ‘Log In’ tab, also located in the top right corner of our career portal. After entering your username and password, you can apply for the active job postings that appear. We also use our career portal as an alumni tracking system. This allows us to direct employment listings that we believe are suitable to our alumni who are actively seeking employment. In addition, our portal features the ‘Career Advice’ and ‘CEO Advice’ tabs, where we share advice from many individuals in the business world. You can learn about the sector by reviewing this advice.

Training Courses and Technical Visits
We organise various training courses and technical visits throughout the year to enhance the personal development of our students and graduates. Due to the pandemic conditions, we have currently suspended our technical tours. Once the pandemic conditions have ended, we will resume our technical tour activities with the approval of our university administration. All our graduates can participate in the events we organise throughout the year. Applications for our training and technical tours are accepted through our career portal, which can be accessed at ‘kariyer.ticaret.edu.tr’.

Alumni Satisfaction Survey
As of 2021, we have implemented a systematic survey to determine the satisfaction rates of our alumni regarding the education and services they have received from our university. With our survey, we also collect the opinions and suggestions of our alumni and strive to improve our processes.

Alumni Meetings
Throughout the year, our Rector, Board of Trustees Chair, and ITO President meet with our graduates in separate programmes. At these meetings, our guests share their experiences and answer questions from our graduates.

Online Alumni Chats
In our Online Alumni Chats event, we bring together our alumni who are actively involved in the business world on an online platform. We share the experiences our alumni have gained from their university days to the period when they started their working lives at this event. We ask our alumni questions, particularly those listed below, and share their views and suggestions with our participants.

Career Days
Career Days is an event we hold annually with the participation of leading national and international companies. This event provides an opportunity for our students and graduates to meet participating companies. Due to the pandemic conditions, we will hold our Career Day event online in 2021. The event, which will take place via our university's Zoom account, will also be broadcast live on our university's YouTube account. At our Career Day event, company representatives will make presentations on the following topics, in addition to answering questions.

Assessment and Grading
1. Assessment and evaluation methods; types of examinations and their contribution to course
grades are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles established by the Higher Education Council (YÖK)
on these matters.
2. Different methods such as assignments, projects, practical work, presentations, mid-term examinations and
end-of-term examinations are used in assessment and evaluation.
3. Letter and/or number-based grading systems are used in the evaluation of student performance.
